Agility is one of the most grind-heavy skills in Old School RuneScape, but it's also one of the most rewarding once you learn the best training routes. Since movement efficiency directly affects run energy and quest accessibility, leveling Agility early can make your overall gameplay smoother.

This guide walks you through a practical 1–99 Agility progression path, including quest XP boosts, rooftop training, alternative methods, and high-level advanced courses.

Early Game Boost: Start with Agility Quests

Before grinding courses, completing Agility XP quests is a great way to jumpstart your progression.

Quests like Recruitment Drive and The Fremennik Trials provide thousands of early XP, helping you skip the very first training stages.

After finishing a few early quests, you can reach around level 21 Agility, with cheapest OSRS gold, which is enough to start more efficient course training such as rooftop courses.

There are many other Agility quests available, so checking the official quest XP list can help you plan further progress.

Level 1–20: Rooftop Courses

Rooftop Agility courses are the best starting point for new players.

These courses are located across major cities and generally unlock every 10 levels.

While training, you will notice marks of grace spawning on the ground. Collecting them allows you to purchase the Graceful outfit, which significantly improves stamina regeneration during skilling.

The Graceful outfit is still valuable even after game updates because it reduces energy consumption during long training sessions.

Recommended early locations include:

Draynor rooftop course (available even at level 1)

Gnome and Shazian courses if travel efficiency is better

Level 20–45: Brimhaven Agility Arena

At level 20, move to the Brimhaven Agility Arena.

This arena costs 200 coins to enter and offers much faster XP than early rooftop courses.

The main training strategy is spamming floor spike traps while bringing food or stamina-boosting items like summer pies.

Although repetitive, this method can reach roughly two hours of training time to push Agility from 20 to 45.

Ticket rewards from the arena can also be exchanged for items or minor GP income.

Level 45–50: Shayzien Advanced Course

At level 45, switch to the Shayzien advanced rooftop course located in Great Kourend.

You'll need a crossbow and myth grapple to access it.

This course offers solid XP rates but does not provide marks of grace, so some players continue rooftop training elsewhere if they want the Graceful outfit faster.

Traveling is convenient using fairy ring networks.

Level 50–60: Colossal Worm Course

The Colossal Worm course is located in the Varlamore expansion region.

This course is more relaxed compared to rooftop agility and can be used for multitasking like watching videos.

You may occasionally receive:

Termites → Exchangeable for items or teleports

Bone shards → Can be converted into Prayer XP

The advanced worm course unlocked at 62 Agility increases XP rates to around 40K XP per hour.

Level 60–70: Return to Rooftop Training

From level 60 onward, rooftop courses become efficient again.

The Seers' Village rooftop course is especially strong.

Completing the Hard Kandarin Diary allows you to reposition your Camelot teleport directly near the course start point, reducing downtime between laps.

Many players also combine high alchemy casting during laps to gain passive Magic XP.

Level 70–80: Pollnivneach and Rellekka Courses

At level 70, the Pollnivneach rooftop course becomes available.

However, if you have completed the Hard Desert Diary, XP per lap improves significantly, making it worthwhile.

One important mechanic to remember is that once your Agility level exceeds a course requirement by about 20 levels, mark-of-grace spawn rates drop.

At level 80, the Rellekka course becomes competitive, especially if you complete relevant diary bonuses.

Level 90+: Ardougne Rooftop Course

At level 90 Agility, you can grind the Ardougne rooftop course.

With a summer pie boost, players can start around level 85.

Key features:

No diary XP bonus

Elite diary completion increases mark-of-grace collection

Marks of grace can stack before despawning

XP rates can reach around 70K per hour, making this a relatively chill endgame option.

Alternative Training Methods

1. Wilderness Agility Course

The course inside the dangerous region known as Wilderness (OSRS region) can provide some of the fastest mid-level XP.

Starting around level 52 (or 47 with summer pie boosts), this course offers high XP and GP rewards.

Loot potential increases as you complete consecutive laps, reaching maximum value after 61 laps.

However, PvP risk exists, so training here requires caution.

2. Hallowed Sepulchre – High-Skill Training

The best advanced Agility gameplay is found inside Hallowed Sepulchre (Darkmeyer agility dungeon).

Unlocked after completing story content in Darkmeyer, this course emphasizes precision timing and player skill.

Key points:

Floors unlock every 10 Agility levels after 52

Floor 2 (around level 62+) offers excellent XP efficiency

Floor 3+ (70+) provides strong GP rewards

Requires equipment like crossbows, grapples, lockpicks, and construction tools

The Sepulchre is widely considered one of the most engaging Agility activities because it involves active gameplay rather than repetitive laps.

Late Game Training: Prifddinas Course

After completing the quest chain leading to Prifddinas (OSRS city), players can access the Prifddinas Agility Course.

At 75 Agility, XP rates can reach about:

55K XP/hour initially

65K+ XP/hour at 91 Agility with reduced failure rates

You will collect crystal shards rather than marks of grace, trading currency type rewards.

Useful Side Training: Barbarian Fishing

If you want passive Agility XP, consider training fishing through barbarian methods.

This provides small bonuses in:

Strength XP

Agility XP

Fishing XP

It's a good preparation method if you plan to level multiple skills simultaneously.

Final Thoughts

Agility is often considered one of the most tedious skills to max in OSRS gold, but modern course design has made training more engaging.

Updates such as shortcut additions and improved reward systems have helped keep the skill relevant.

If you want efficiency, combine summer pie boosts, diary bonuses, and high-level courses.

Persistence is key—Agility may be slow, but reaching 99 is highly satisfying.

Good luck on your grind!
